Ten entries were submitted to architectural competition for the university’s new academic and research building

This summer, the university announced an architectural competition to find a design for constructing an academic and research building and landscaping the surrounding area at Maarjavälja. On 19 October, the procurement committee opened the ten entries submitted to the competition.

Enne tööde žüriile hindamiseks esitamist kontrollib hankekomisjon veel kõigi osalejate vastavust esitatud kvalifitseerimise tingimustele ja tööde vastavust vormilistele nõuetele.

Before sending the works to the jury for evaluation, the committee will verify whether all the participants meet the qualification criteria and whether the entries comply with formal requirements.

The jury will gather on 14 November. The name card envelopes with the keywords of the winning entries will be opened, and the authors will be announced at a public meeting, the details of which will be communicated on the websites of the public procurement register and the university.

The competition jury comprises Director of Administration Kstina Noormets, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology Leho Ainsaar, chartered architects of the Estonian Association of Architects Tõnis Arjus, Tiit Sild and Jüri Siim, and the Lead Architect of the Architecture Service of Tartu City Government Ivo-Sven Riet. In addition, Aire Priks, Head of the Detailed Plan Service of the Department of Urban Planning, Land Survey and Use of Tartu City Government, and Viljo Vider, Head of Institutional Development Service of the Estates Office of the University of Tartu, are included in the jury as experts.
