TEDx University of Tartu brings people together to share “ideas worth spreading” across diverse topics on the 2nd June at the University of Tartu Delta Centre.

According to recent data from the international Web of Science database, the University of Tartu now also ranks among the top 1% of the world’s most highly cited research institutions in the field of physics. This is the sixteenth field of research in which research carried out at the University of Tartu has reached the global top level in impact.

On 15 May, from 10:15 to 11:45, he gives a public lecture “Applying for ERC grants. The future of European research” in the building of the Institute of Cultural Research (Ülikooli 16–216).

One of the world’s leading international conferences dedicated to research integrity and trust in science — the World Conference on Research Integrity (WCRI) — will take place in Tallinn, Estonia, in 2028. The successful bid was led by the Centre for Ethics at the University of Tartu, in cooperation with the professional conference organiser Publicon OÜ.

From 2 to 6 November, the Fall Campus of CERN, the world’s largest particle physics laboratory, will take place in the Delta academic building of the University of Tartu. Organised in cooperation with CERN scientists, the five-day programme offers students and other science enthusiasts a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the development work at one of the world’s leading scientific organisations and to take part in international research collaboration.

The UT Institute of Computer Science is organising the Estonian–Latvian Computer Science Theory Days on 24–26 April. As part of the programme, Turing Award laureate Robert Tarjan will give a public lecture on 25 April.

Veikko Linko is an Associate Professor of Molecular Nanotechnology at the University of Tartu. Veikko’s role in Tartu has enabled him to build a research group to examine DNA-based nanostructures and collaborate with partners from across Europe.

The call for applications for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships is open until 9 September 2026. In April and May, the Estonian Research Council (ETAG) will host info sessions to help prospective applicants prepare their applications.

Lukas Ramasauskas studied Excellence in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Tartu as part of the Erasmus Mundus MA programme. Now working in Switzerland in the human health and care sector, Lukas’ experience in Tartu has had a lasting impact on his professional and personal growth.

Līga Maskova studied a master’s in Material Sciences and Technology at the University of Tartu. Outside the lab, Līga enjoyed Tartu’s underground music scene and played bassoon in the university orchestra.
